Making Books and Art

Over the last 3 years, we have made Orizomigami (Japanese) methods for making books, and illustrated our own books, in Elementary classes.

2013 Winter, y5s, every student contributed a page or two to Illustrating the Ukranian Folktale, The Mitten. The book is now in our Art Room library.

2014-15, Orizomigami books, folded rice paper (coffee filters), make the cover of these little books: bbq skewers (bamboo), and elastic band make the binding. The kids loved this project.
Folded coffee filters, round or cut square, dipped in color  drawing inks. Held together to dry and dipping by a clothes pin.

2016, a last day before winter break project, reprint the book without the Illustrations (with proper citations) and students illustrate the story their way!
